The first shipment to Mexico

Import of Japanese rice was restricted by Mexico.

Until now, Mexico has banned the import of Japanese milled rice on the grounds that pests and pests that threaten to invade the country are occurring in Japan.

Since 2020, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has held technical discussions with the Mexican plant quarantine authorities to enable the export of polished rice produced in Japan, based on requests from production areas.

The ban is lifted on March 17, 2023

As a result, an agreement was reached on plant quarantine conditions, and it became possible to export polished Japanese rice on March 17, 2023 (Friday).

Phytosanitary conditions for polished Japanese rice destined for Mexico have been agreed upon with Mexico’s plant quarantine authorities, and the ban on the export of polished rice to Mexico has been lifted today, March 17 (Friday) (16th local time).
